Preschool in Finland Supports Early Learning
Engel’s shared preschool in Helsinki is organized at Engel Viiskulma Kindergarten. Preschool starts one year before elementary school. Preschool in Finland is free of charge, and its main goal is to create a strong foundation for lifelong learning already at the preschool age. At Engel’s Finnish-English preschool in Helsinki, children can also take part in daycare outside the official preschool hours, which offers families the flexibility of daycare and preschool combined.
The preschool start at Engel Kindergartens traditionally includes a trip to buy preschool books, inspiring children to step into the world of learning. This special tradition also strengthens the sense of community among the children right from the beginning of the school year.
Engel Kindergartens’ pre-primary school follows the official timetable of the city of Helsinki’s autumn and spring terms. The schedule includes both autumn and winter breaks. During the autumn break in October the children can take part in Engel Daycare’s early childhood education. During the winter break in February (week 8) our kindergarten is closed.
